Puerto Vallarta Downtown Road Construction means bigger sidewalks

11 Sept 2021

In the last six months, there has been an ongoing project to improve the streets in Puerto Vallarta. Many might think that it is just the roads that are improving but it is more. The construction is helping with drainage from the heavy rains, it is improving the bike lanes and finally, it is enlarging the sidewalks. That being said, when you look at the construction that will continue over the next year, you will see it in a new way, a better place for locals and tourists - Puerto Vallarta.

I want to focus on the larger sidewalk space. As a person who loves patios and restaurant food, I see this as an opportunity for restaurants to enhance their outdoor service. Hopefully in the upcoming high season, tourists and returning expats will appreciate the benefits of the streets and sidewalks throughout Puerto Vallarta. The weather in the Vallarta area is ideal for patio dining and enjoying a drink or two. The recent construction is connected to a long-term plan, one that includes expanding the Malecón, and making Puerto Vallarta more attractive to visitors and locals.

To play with an expression, "All roads lead to downtown", is exactly what people think of when they talk about the Malecón. This 12 block promenade is a beautiful attraction along the Pacific ocean that has the beauty of Banderas Bay and a mixture of commercial businesses that offer anything from a romantic meal to deep sea diving. Bikini shops, Sunglasses, souvenirs and of course a great selection of restaurants and bars are the backdrops of your peaceful walk on this esplanade of adventure and culture.
